Nutrition Essentials from a Biblical Perspective

Updated: Mar 27

Part 1 of a 3-Part Series on Essential Nutrition by Katy Gillis, Certified Natural Health Professional, Amen University Brain Health Licensed Trainer, and Certified Biblical Coach.

Because He is our loving Father, God has a plan for ultimate nutrition, hydration, and living a healthy lifestyle (mental, physical, and spiritual health).

It includes several key elements:

1. He created the earth, sun, and water; this is the perfect environment for us to live in.

2. He created plants and certain animals for food; these are healing or restoring for us to eat.

3. He tasked us with work that is both mentally and physically active, keeping the brain and body healthy and strong.

Scriptures (starting in Genesis chapter 1), science, and logic all support the benefits of these elements, which is a joy to see and know and to have the ability to do better.

The goal of living a healthy lifestyle is being a good steward of what the Lord has blessed us with (our body, His resources):

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
